Job summary

Midland Transport in Dartmouth, NS is seeking a Class 1 P&D Tractor Driver to join our local delivery team. The role focuses on delivering freight across the Greater Halifax area with a emphasis on reliability, safety, and customer service.

Expect local Monday and Friday shifts 07:00–17:00 with weekend linehaul and contracted deliveries as needed. Competitive hourly pay, benefits, training, and growth opportunities are offered.

Midland Transport

is currently seeking a Class 1 P&D Tractor Driver based in Dartmouth, NS Terminal. The selected candidate will be a reliable person with a strong work ethic and great and positive attitude with a commitment to providing a Superior Quality service.

Main Role:

The driver will be responsible for picking up and delivering throughout the Greater Halifax area while maintaining company standards and managing time efficiently. This role primarily consists of local deliveries on Mondays and Fridays, as well as linehaul and contracted deliveries on weekends, as required. Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and exceptional customer service skills are essential to joining our team.

Schedule:

Friday - Monday (07:00-17:00)

Responsibilities
  • Deliver freight to assigned customer locations, ensuring safe, accurate, and on-time delivery.
  • Safely offload freight of varying weights and properly handle all freight handling equipment to prevent damage to cargo and property.
  • Complete and maintain accurate daily pickup and delivery documentation.
  • Provide professional, reliable, and customer-focused service at all times.
  • Operate company equipment in compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, transportation regulations, and traffic laws.
  • Perform linehaul runs throughout the Maritime provinces as required.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, and monitor all aspects of vehicle operation to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Promptly report any incidents, accidents, injuries, equipment defects, or damage in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
  • Class1 driver’s license with a minimum of 2 years of safe tractor trailer driving experience in North America required.
  • Clean driver’s abstract and criminal search.
  • Familiarity with satellite systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle freight as required.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing workloads.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a commitment to providing superior quality service.
  • Safety-conscious, with a strong commitment to safe driving practices and regulatory compliance.
