  • Ability to collaborate with district and school staff to plan intervention programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psycho-educational assessments for K-12 students.
  • Provide consultation to teachers and parents regarding diverse issues including learning disabilities and cognitive impairments.
  • Assist in the 1701 identification process for inclusive education categories.
  • Guide resource teachers on Level B assessment tools usage.
  • Perform assessments for adjudication for Provincial examinations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The District School Psychologist is primarily responsible for conducting psycho-educational assessments and providing consultation services. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of current, effective assessment methods as well as best practice in academic intervention.

Scope of Position:
  • Conduct psycho-educational assessments for students from K-12
  • Provide consultation service to teachers and parents regarding students with a wide variety of issues including learning disabilities, behavioural challenges and cognitive impairments
  • Provide assistance in the 1701 process of identification of students in inclusive education categories
  • Provide guidance to resource teachers regarding the use of Level B assessment tools
  • Conducting assessment for the purpose of adjudication for Provincial examinations
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Masters Degree in School Psychology or equivalent
  • Eligible for membership in the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Eligible for membership in the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC)
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to complete psycho-educational assessments
  • Excellent knowledge of assessment methods for formally evaluating cognitive, academic, behavioral and emotional functioning for elementary, middle and secondary students
  • Ability to collaborate with district and school staff to plan intervention programs for students with a variety of learning needs
  • Knowledge of audit compliance criteriafor inclusive education categories
  • Excellent communication skills
Compensation:

Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $63,361.00 to $117,583.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
