Job description

We are seeking a Distributed Control System (DCS) Technician / Technologist. The role involves maintaining, designing, and installing controller system software. You will be responsible for analyzing system requirements, writing and installing custom programmable logic code, testing system efficiency, and providing ongoing operational support.

Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain and troubleshoot various SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems including all Operational Technology (OT) and communication systems to maintain optimal plant performance.
  2. Support control system, monitoring, and managing access to critical system resources.
  3. Repair, overhaul, maintain, configure, select, and install controls and instrumentation equipment.
  4. Drive lifecycle management and planning for control system equipment to ensure long-term reliability.
  5. Partner with maintenance teams to complete scheduled activities and critical work with minimal downtime.
  6. Provide troubleshooting support to operations teams in resolving process control issues.
  7. Administer control systems, operational technology, and communication system modification requests under the management of change procedure.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on DCS configurations, changes, and maintenance activities.
  9. Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HazOps/LOPA, and shutdown reviews to improve system safety and reliability.
  10. Participate in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team, and ensure implementation within schedule and budget limits.
  11. Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
Skills and Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree or diploma in software engineering, instrumentation control, automation, electrical, process engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience working with and programming DCS, PLC, and similar systems in an industrial setting.
  3. Experience in programming ABB 800xA and Allen Bradley PLCs is required.
  4. Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols, including Modbus and Ethernet/IP.
  5. In-depth knowledge of process control and instrumentation.
  6. Understanding of Advanced Process Control (APC), optimization techniques, and loop tuning.
  7. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagrams.
  8. Experience in commissioning and start-up of equipment on DCS and PLC is a plus.
  9. Previous experience in operations is a plus.
