Job summary

Canada Cartage Group in Mississauga is seeking a Dispatch professional to ensure timely responses to customer inquiries and to support regional transportation operations. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of dispatch/coordination experience in transportation preferred.
• Strong planning, organizational and scheduling abilities.

Responsibilities

• Resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and problems promptly.
• Support regional transportation operations with guidance as needed.
• Plan and schedule staffing across all shifts to meet volumes and service levels.
• Monitor time and attendance for regulatory compliance and accuracy.
• Compile incident data and coordinate communications with relevant teams.

Job Dispatch

Responsibilities:

• Ensures the timely resolution of customer inquiries, concerns and problems.
• Supports Regional Transportation operations offering assistance and guidance as required.
• Plans and schedules for team members to ensure proper staffing across all shifts, ensuring alignment with volumes and service expectations.
• Reviews accuracy of time and attendance reporting to ensure legal compliance with hours of work.
• Compiles data on incidents and accidents, distributes and communications with appropriate personnel.
• Committed to achieving Transportation targets in a timely fashion while focusing on continuous improvement.
• Effectively and efficiently responding to Client and employee inquiries; resolving any conflicts or problems that might arise; etc.
• Assist with Gatehouse duties as required (where applicable).

Skills and Knowledge:

• Awareness of Highway traffic act including hours of service, TDG, weight restrictions etc.
• Strong knowledge of applicable routes within region.
• Working knowledge of transportation cargo claims, transportation laws and risk management.
• Must have excellent organizational skills, work collaboratively, resource allocation, problem solving and troubleshooting; information gathering including research, interpretation and analysis
• Communication skills including written (reports) Email and verbal (internal and external customers)
• Indirect supervision of driving staff on a daily basis; ability to lead, motivate and manage a team; strong customer focus.
• Intermediate keyboarding skills using a PC and knowledge of email, word processing and spreadsheet experience
• Strong time-management skills, with the ability to multitask, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of applicable routes within region.

Job Type: Permanent Position

Expected hours: 40 hours per week but could vary depending on the operational needs.

• Shifts – 11am to 07:30pm Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday
