Job summary

TransAm Carriers Inc. in Concord, Ontario seeks a Dispatch Manager to own the entire dispatch floor across multiple desks. You will manage dispatchers, ensure on-time pickups and deliveries, monitor ETAs, and coordinate with sales, safety and shop to ensure commitments are executable.

This role requires cross-border experience, reducing turnover, and using our in-house TMS with live visibility into every truck. Direct access to ownership and modern tooling are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have managed dispatchers, not just dispatched.
• Experience with cross-border customs and bonded moves.
• Ability to maintain standards in a high-turnover dispatch environment.
• Comfort with systems and data and live visibility into trucks.

Responsibilities

• Own every dispatch desk and on-call coverage.
• Ensure on-time pickup/delivery and accurate ETAs.
• Coordinate desk interactions to improve efficiency across the network.

About the role

Transam Carriers runs 120+ trucks out of Concord, Ontario — cross-border LTL and truckload, our own customs desk, our own cross-dock.

Our dispatch runs as several desks: East Coast LTL and express, East Coast full truckload, western long-haul, Midwest and Chicago short-haul, and city. Each desk is strong on its own. Nobody owns all of them.

That is the job. You would run the entire dispatch floor.

What you would own

• - Every dispatch desk and the dispatchers on them — coverage, standards, escalation, who is on call
• - Service performance: on-time pickup and delivery, and the honesty of the ETAs we give customers
• - How the desks work with each other rather than around each other — today each desk plans its own trucks, and the company pays for that at the seams
• - Driver experience on the operations side. Dispatch decisions are the biggest single factor in whether a driver stays
• - The working relationship with sales, safety and the shop, so commitments made are commitments that can be run

What we are looking for

• - You have managed dispatchers, not only dispatched. We need someone who can take the desk off other people, not add another person to it
• - Cross-border experience: customs, bonded moves, border timing, and what actually happens when a truck is held
• - You can hold a standard without burning out the room. Dispatch is a high-turnover seat and we would rather fix that than keep refilling it
• - Comfortable with systems and data — we run our own TMS and you will have live visibility into every truck
