Job summary

enCompass seeks a strategic, people-centered Director of People & Shared Services to align HR, IT, facilities and administration with the organization's mission and growth.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in HR or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • CPHR designation is an asset.
  • Progressive leadership experience in HR, corporate services or organizational development.
  • Experience leading multiple functions including HR, IT, facilities and admin.
  • Translate organizational strategy into practical people, systems and service priorities.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to support decision-making.
  • Experience in non-profit or public sector is an asset.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director, People & Shared Services provides strategic leadership for the people, systems, and organizational infrastructure required for enCompass to operate effectively and grow sustainably.

The Director leads the organization's People & Culture strategy and provides executive oversight for an evolving portfolio of shared services, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities and Corporate Administration.

This is a strategic leadership role focused on building organizational capacity. Working through managers, specialists, service providers, and organizational leaders, the Director will establish clear priorities, strengthen systems and service delivery, develop organizational capability, and ensure shared services remain responsive to the needs of a growing and evolving Agency.

As the portfolio evolves, the Director will also play an important role in assessing capacity, clarifying accountabilities, and helping shape the leadership and service-delivery model required for the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the organization’s People & Culture Strategy, including workforce planning, organizational design, talent and succession planning, leadership development, employee engagement, and culture.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Human Resources, ensuring effective people practices, policies, and systems that support employees, leaders, organizational priorities, and legislative requirements.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Facilities and Corporate Administration, supporting safe, effective and appropriately scaled facilities, administrative services, business continuity, and organizational infrastructure.
  • Provide executive oversight of Information Technology, including technology strategy, cybersecurity, systems planning, vendor relationships, and technology risk.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and strengthen shared services and agency-wide processes, improving coordination, service delivery, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership teams, contributing to organizational strategy, change, policy, risk management, and key organizational decisions.
  • Lead and develop the People & Shared Services team, establishing clear priorities, accountabilities and service expectations while ensuring the portfolio evolves to meet the organization’s future needs.
What You Bring

You are a strategic, pragmatic leader who understands that strong organizations require both great people practices and effective systems behind them. You are comfortable working at the executive table while remaining connected enough to operations to understand what employees and leaders need.

You bring sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to create structure where it is needed without adding unnecessary complexity. You know when to lead directly, when to work through specialists and managers, and when the best solution is to simplify.

Ideally, You Bring:

  • A post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Management, Public/Non-Profit Administration or a related discipline. A equivalent combination of education and senior leadership experience may be considered.
  • A professional Human Resources designation (CPHR) is considered an asset.
  • Significant progressive leadership experience in human resources, corporate services, organizational development or a related area, with responsibility for multiple organizational functions or portfolios.
  • Demonstrated strategic human resources leadership across areas such as workforce planning, organizational development, employee relations, talent management and organizational change.
  • Experience providing leadership or executive oversight for corporate functions such as information technology, facilities and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate organizational strategy into practical people, systems and service priorities.
  • Experience developing, strengthening, and integrating organizational systems, structures, policies, and processes with a growing or evolving organization.
  • Strong experience working collaboratively with senior leaders to support organizational decision-making, manage competing priorities, and advance agency-wide initiatives.
  • Experience in the non-profit, human services, community services or public sector is considered an asset.

Compensation

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $100,000 – $110,000 annually, with starting salary determined based on relevant experience, qualifications and internal equity. enCompass also offers a competitive total rewards package, including health and dental benefits with access to a range of paramedical services, RRSP contributions, professional development and wellness initiatives.
