Job description

Powertech is seeking a strategic and results-oriented leader to build and direct our business development and marketing functions, with a focus on expanding our testing and engineering services in the electrical utility and hydrogen sectors.

This role is key to advancing Powertech’s growth objectives by identifying and securing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with OEMs, power equipment suppliers, and utilities, and growing our presence in North America and targeted international markets. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in closing sales and driving revenue growth in partnership with internal teams to align our services with market needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Expand Powertech’s testing and engineering services with a focus on OEMs, utilities, and hydrogen infrastructure providers.
  2. Identify, develop, and close business prospects by leading sales strategies and win plans to grow accounts.
  3. Develop and execute marketing strategies, including brand awareness, campaigns, digital content, stakeholder engagement, and competitor analysis.
  4. Foster strong relationships within leadership and technical teams to align customer opportunities with Powertech's capabilities.
  5. Lead customer engagement initiatives, drive sales forecasting, and provide strategic insights into business performance. Broaden marketing and business development strategies to elevate our global market profile.
  6. Demonstrate significant commercial negotiation experience, articulating Powertech benefits at various organizational levels.
  7. Attend client sites, conferences, and industry events to promote services, generate leads, and represent Powertech at industry forums, with an expected travel of about one week per month.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Science, or related field; a Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is an asset.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in business development and marketing, preferably in the power industry, with strong expertise in North American and international markets.
  • Leadership experience in managing diverse teams in complex environments, demonstrating emotional intelligence and motivation skills.
  • Strong market analysis, negotiation skills, and entrepreneurial mindset supporting long-term growth strategies.
  • CRM experience supporting business development initiatives.
  • Industry experience in engineering consulting or energy sectors is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders and internal teams on strategic initiatives.

Additional details include the role being full-time, based in Surrey, B.C., and open to applicants with relevant experience at different levels. Maintaining a valid driver’s license is required.
