The Ontario Cannabis Store provides safe, responsible access to recreational cannabis for adults 19 and older. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in Ontario and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Digital Product Specialist to join our team! In this role, you’ll be responsible for owning and organizing product deliverables for a portfolio of projects and digital enhancements across OCS’s wholesale (B2B) and retail (B2C) platforms. You’ll play a key role throughout the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery and definition to execution and measurement.

Using strong project coordination and product ownership skills, you’ll act as a bridge between UX, Customer Experience, business units, and IT. You’ll translate insights and business needs into user stories that drive scalable, customer-first solutions.

You will help shape the future of Ontario’s cannabis retail experience by leveraging user insights, data analytics, and agile methodology.

About Your Day

Strategy & Planning
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager and UX team to define the vision of digital enhancements and sprint roadmaps.
  • Gather and prioritize requirements from stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of user needs and translate them into scalable product capabilities.
Execution & Delivery
  • Own and manage the digital product backlog in JIRA , prioritizing user stories based on impact, value, and feasibility.
  • Partner with IT to maintain development priorities and act as a key point of contact during sprint planning and development.
  • Write clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate product retrospectives and collaboration workshops for continuous improvement.
  • Perform UAT against defined acceptance criteria and provide timely, actionable feedback.
  • Oversee delivery timelines in partnership with project managers and cross-functional teams.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with business teams (e.g., merchandising, supply chain, customer care, CX) to align solutions with business goals.
  • Communicate technical complexity and dependencies across systems, APIs, and platforms in simple, business-friendly terms.
  • Coordinate UAT activities and stakeholder feedback across all phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Use insights from Google Analytics, customer service data, and usability testing to guide feature iteration.

About You

  • Completion of post-secondary education in related field OR equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in a digital environment, including requirements gathering for a web-based platform, and strong knowledge of digital product lifecycle management
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in digital product or project coordination is required
  • Digital sprint scheduling experience is a strong asset
  • Experience with the following technologies is a strong asset: JIRA, Confluence, Google Analytics, Shopify, ServiceNow &/or FIGMA
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Kanban, Waterfall and Agile is an asset
  • Certifications as a CSPO or CSM is an asset
  • A proactive, customer centric attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly organized
  • Sound communicator with ability to present to different audiences with varying technical knowledge
  • Ability to work independently on projects, with tight deadlines, under minimal supervision

About the Job

  • This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in office requirement is a minimum of 3 days/week (may be more depending on business needs). The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

  • Required Travel: Rare, usually within the GTA

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $85,000- $90,000. This is a pay grade 8 BU role, with a salary range of $84,835-$103,687 . Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
