Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Dietary Aide to support patient meal services in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will prepare and assemble patient meal trays, wash dishes and food service wares, and assist in maintaining sanitation standards under supervision.

Qualifications include one year of food service experience, Food Handlers Certification, WHMIS training, reliable attendance, and ability to read, write and speak English; strong teamwork and problem-solving skills

• Food Handlers Certification (Public Health) is required.
• WHMIS training is required.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance record is required.
• Able to stand, walk and bend without restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and assembly of patient meal trays.

• Communicate with Supervisor regarding discrepancies.

Summary of Duties:

The Dietary Aide will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Preparation and assembly of patient meal trays
• Dishwashing of patient meal trays, pots & pans, food service wares & equipment
• Supporting Food Services quality improvement initiatives
• Communicating with Supervisor regarding discrepancies

Qualifications/Skills:

• One year of practical experience in food service environment – required
• Food Handlers Certification (Public Health) – required
• WHMIS training – required
• Demonstrate reliable work attendance record – required
• Service and detail oriented
• Able to stand, walk and bend without restrictions
• Able to lift floor to waist up to 20lbs
• Able to push/ pull food service equipment, smallwares up to 30lbs
• Able to read, write and speak English
• Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Requiring minimal supervision
• Follow established standards for food handling & preparation
• Maintain established sanitation and safety standards in the care and cleaning of food service dishes and equipment
• Follow all new and existing department policies and procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a strong team environment
