Job summary

Salit Steel is seeking a Quantity Surveyor of reinforcing steel for diverse lump sum projects. You will perform detailed steel take-offs, verify drawings and specs, and respond to tender addenda to ensure accurate material breakdown and pricing.

The role requires reviewing tender scope, performing post-tender estimate updates, printing reports, and utilizing various software tools. Office-based with occasional site visits, typical 40+ hour weeks.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Civil/Construction/Architectural Technician program or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as reinforcing steel estimator, detailer or reinforcing steel placer.

POSITION SUMMARY

Quantity surveyor of reinforcing steel for a variety of lump sum projects ranging from under 1 tonne to over 200 tonnes.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Completes detailed take-off of reinforcing steel for a variety of lump sum projects by the tender deadline.
• Reviews scope of work, specifications, and addendums for respective projects to ensure accurate breakdown of material as required
• Reviews and makes changes to estimates as per post-tender addendums.
• Prints drawings, reports as required in completing tender process.
• Use various software tools to complete all aspects of the role.

working conditions

The successful incumbent will be working 40+ hours per week in an office setting as well as occasional site visits. Frequent and regular use of the computer is required as well as exposure to the elements and loud noises are possible.
