Job summary

Groupe AGF inc. - AGF Group Inc. in Ontario seeks a Rebar Estimator to prepare accurate rebar quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for diverse projects.

You will support the Sales Manager and coordinate with clients, consultants, detailing, and project teams to ensure competitive tender submissions. The role requires 3–5 years as an Estimator in construction and at least 4 years of rebar takeoff experience, with strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering, Estimating, Drafting, or equivalent.
• 3-5 years experience as an Estimator in construction.
• Minimum 4 years’ rebar takeoff experience specifically.
• Strong ability to visualize structural elements from drawings.
• Excellent mathematical skills and high attention to detail.
• Proven ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare clear reports.
• Very good verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized, autonomous, creative, flexible, and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and addenda.
• Perform rebar takeoffs and quantify reinforcing steel required for projects based on provided documents.

Job description

The Rebar Estimator (Construction Estimator NOC 22303) is responsible for preparing accurate rebar quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for multiple construction projects across Ontario. The role supports the Sales Manager and liaises with customers, consultants, detailing, and project management teams to ensure competitive and accurate tender submissions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and addenda.
Perform rebar takeoffs and quantify reinforcing steel required for projects based on provided documents.
Analyze tender documents to prepare accurate costs and rebar estimates.
Examine and analyze tenders and advise Sales on tendering procedures and pricing strategy.
Prepare quantity and complexity statements and detailed estimate documentation.
Liaise and communicate with clients, consultants, and internal teams to clarify scope and ensure accurate estimates.
Coordinate with detailing and project management teams during project execution to resolve discrepancies.
Participate in pre-tender/award meetings, management meetings, and staff meetings.
Manage multiple estimating bids concurrently and meet tight deadlines.

Required Qualifications
Diploma in Civil Engineering, Estimating, Drafting, or equivalent.
3-5 years experience as an Estimator in construction.
Minimum 4 years’ rebar takeoff experience specifically.
Strong ability to visualize structural elements from drawings.

Asset / Preferred Qualifications
Experience with estimating software (ASA Studio is preferred)
Prior experience estimating for projects across Ontario or similar regional experience.
Professional certifications related to estimating or construction.

Working Conditions
Office-based with regular travel to project sites across Ontario.
Ability to review large sets of drawings and sit for extended periods; occasional site visits in outdoor conditions.
Occasional overtime may be required to meet bid deadlines.
