Summary
The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for technical support and maintenance of the desktop and laptop computers and associated applications, telephony and video systems, and other related technologies. Support includes installation and testing of office technologies, systems, and peripherals, within established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with hardware, application software, operating systems, and vendors to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems.



This position is based in Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency as in office work will be required.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:



  • Acts as a technical expert regarding desktop support and associated systems and applications, for Contexture team members



  • Works with Desktop Support Vendor to resolve technical problems with computing equipment and software in accordance with Desktop Support agreements



  • Provides Tier I support to end-users and escalates Tier II issues as needed



  • Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop and laptop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines



  • Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with computing equipment and software, telephony, and video technologies



  • Interacts with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client server environment



  • Ensures desktop and laptop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems



  • Performs upgrades on the various office systems to ensure usability, security, and longevity



  • Creates and maintains documentation related to computer and peripheral inventory and build/configuration processes



  • Ensures desktops and laptops are properly secured and patched



  • Ensures mobile devices are registered and monitored with mobile device management system



  • Works collaborative with business applications analyst to ensure business applications systems are used in accordance with approved use cases



  • As applicable, after-hours work may be necessary to support IT projects



  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the capabilities and use of desktop, laptop, networking, telephony, and video technologies



  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Azure/Active Directory, and MacOS



  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action, giving regard to impact on stakeholders



  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to ensure projects are efficiently and effectively completed

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office toolset (Word, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint required, Visio preferred)



Education/Experience


Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the desktop and office networking required. Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field preferred, or combination of experience and education.

The position may require occasional availability for after-hours work, outside of regularly scheduled hours.



The position may require ability to periodically drive to and from clients, conferences and / or events; and / or limited travel.



This position is expected to be exposed to, process, or handle sensitive information including but not limited to Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), financial information, etc. As such, the holder of this position is expected to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and compliance expectations.



Physical Demands


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The person in this position needs to frequently communicate and exchange information and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a keyboard, monitor, calculator, copy / scanner machine, and printer. Frequently moves office and work-related material weighing up to 10 pounds; Occasionally moves office and work-related material weighing up to 30 pounds.
