Job summary

ClaimsPro is seeking a Desktop Adjuster to join our team in a hybrid role with a requirement to commute weekly to our Markham or Mississauga office. The role emphasizes accurate documentation, policy interpretation, and timely claim resolution.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant university degree or CIP designation, an adjuster license, and strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills to support our nationwide operations.

Responsibilities

Compensation range: $47,100.00 – $65,400.00 annually

We have an existing opportunity to add an experienced full-time Desktop Adjuster to our team!

This is a Hybrid position where the candidate must be able to commute once a week to the office located in Markham or Mississauga.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Reviewing Documentation: Examine policyholder statements, police reports, repair estimates, photographs, and third-party inspection reports to ensure all information is accurate and complete
  • Determining Coverage: Interpret insurance policy terms, conditions, and exclusions to decide whether a claim is covered and the extent of the insurer’s financial responsibility
  • Claim Resolution: Communicate with policyholders via phone, email, or video conferencing to explain coverage decisions, settle claims, and expedite payments
  • Collaboration: Work with field adjusters who provide on-site inspection reports, contractors, and other stakeholders to finalize claims efficiently
  • Administrative Tasks: Document all communications, update claim files, and maintain accurate records in claims management software such as Xactimate
  • Customer Service: Respond to inquiries, provide guidance, and ensure timely contact with claimants throughout the claims process

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should have experience in Personal and/or Commercial lines Auto Property Damage (PD). Some personal Property Claims experience will be considered an asset, as well as the following competencies;

Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree or post-secondary education related to insurance.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience.
  • Equivalency in combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ongoing commitment to education and learning.
  • Effective analytical skills, including identification of cause and effect dynamics
  • Good investigative manner
  • Able to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them.
  • Ability to interpret complex documents of a legal nature, perform and understand advanced numerical calculations including analysis of comparative information.
  • Adjuster’s license, or currently pursuing or have completed the CIP designation
  • Advanced communication skills including:
  • Effective written skills including those of a technical nature
  • Effective oral skills, including listening, interviewing, negotiating, must be able to flex style appropriate to audience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities in an effective manner.
  • Proactive and positive approach to customer service ensuring that all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills allowing you to effectively deal with conflict and difficult situations.
  • Strong commitment to ongoing education and learning.
