Job summary

AXA XL's Canada-based Claims team is seeking a Claims Specialist-Design Professional to drive files to resolution and collaborate closely with Underwriting. You will provide coverage analysis, advise on wording and account reviews, and support service excellence across complex claims.

The role involves negotiating resolutions across jurisdictions, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to risk management education for policyholders and agents.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Representative’s Certificate for Commercial-lines claims adjustment in compliance with AMF requirements.
• Experience with handling litigation claims for Professional lines of business.
• MBA or LLB preferred; CIP/CRM designation preferred.
• Impeccable ethical reputation and collaboration with clients, brokers, internal teams and vendors.
• Superior verbal and written communication in both official languages; ability to influence stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to work independently with initiative.

Responsibilities

• Providing coverage analysis on all new matters and advising underwriting on wording and account reviews.
• Evaluating financial exposures; negotiating resolutions across multiple jurisdictions.
• Partnering with counsel on litigation strategies and participating in mediations and settlements.
• Coordinating communication with Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors, ensuring high-level customer service.
• Consulting with Claims Management on large losses and contentious coverage matters; ensuring best outcomes.
• Maintaining file notes, reserving, payments, and electronic diary entries per guidelines.
• Identifying, monitoring, and reporting emerging industry trends and legislative changes.
• Active participation in new account and renewal meetings as needed.
• Developing educational material and risk management training for policyholders and agents.
