Job summary

Save-On-Foods is hiring a Department Manager, Wine at our Fleetwood location in Surrey, BC. This full-time role requires open availability and focuses on leading the department, coaching the team, ensuring customer-first service, and achieving sales and KPI targets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department, coach and mentor the team to deliver Always Customer First service
• Drive operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising
• Train and develop team members with performance management and recognition
• Communicate key messages and objectives to staff in line with company goals
• Review financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs
• Analyze department HR metrics and dashboards; support sales growth and customer loyalty
• Lead inventory counts and end-of-period activities; resolve issues
• Perform duties including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in hot/cold environments

We are hiring a Department Manager, Wine at our Fleetwood Save-On-Foods location in Surrey, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
• Achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
