Save-On-Foods in Port Hardy, BC is hiring a Department Manager, Produce. This full-time role involves leading the produce department, coaching the team, and driving customer-first service while maintaining safety standards.

The position requires 1–3 years of retail experience, Food Safe Certification, and a business-related post-secondary education is an asset. You will manage merchandising, KPIs, and inventory in a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department, coach and mentor a positive team.

• Review financial reports, identify opportunities and present KPIs to management.
• Analyze department HR metrics and dashboards.
• Support strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Lead inventory counts and period-end activities; resolve issues.
• Perform all duties including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing long periods.

We are hiring a Department Manager, Produce at our Save-On-Foods location in Port Hardy, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
  • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  • Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.

Compensation Details:
