Job summary

Save-On-Foods is hiring a Department Manager for the Deli at our Coquitlam, BC location. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role requires open availability and leadership experience to coach a high-performing team.

You will drive operations, customer experience, health and safety, and merchandising while coaching and developing staff. Knowledge of sales growth, HR, and scheduling is valued, with Health and safety policies and Food Safe certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Food Safe Certification.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Post-secondary education in a business field is an asset.
• Experience with achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Experience with HR, training and mentoring.
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department as coach and mentor to foster a customer-first service culture.
• Deliver operational excellence in customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engage and retain team members through training, performance management, rewards, and succession planning.
• Communicate key messages and business objectives to team to ensure alignment with goals.
• Review financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs to management.
• Lead inventory counts and period-end processes and resolve issues as required.
• Support strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.

We are hiring a Department Manager, Deli at our Austin Save-On-Foods location in Coquitlam, BC.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging andretainingteam members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and businessobjectivesto team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports,identifyingopportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/periodend of the department and resolving issues asrequired.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50lbs), standing forlong periodsof time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in abusiness relatedfield is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Human Resources (e.g.training, development,coachingand mentoring).
  • Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
  • Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiencywith computer applications.
