Job summary

Save-On-Foods Langford, BC is hiring a Department Manager, Bakery to lead the bakery department and coach a team of associates. The role focuses on customer-first service, safety, merchandising, and achieving sales targets.

You'll review KPI reports, manage scheduling, training, and performance, while ensuring health and food safety standards and a positive, inclusive team environment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience with achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Experience with merchandising plans and in-store displays to drive sales.
• Experience with HR (training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department, coaching and mentoring the team to deliver Always Customer First service.
• Drive operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, and merchandising.
• Engage and retain team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicate key messages and business objectives to team members in the department.
• Review and analyze financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, and present KPIs to management.
• Analyze business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Support with strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Lead inventory counts/period end of the department and resolve issues.
• Perform all duties including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing long hours, and working in hot/cold environments.
