Job summary

Vancouver Island University (VIU) seeks a Case Manager within the Diversity, Equity and Human Rights Office to advance fairness and uphold human rights obligations. You will receive concerns, triage cases, and help determine formal or informal resolution pathways, while maintaining confidentiality and trauma-informed practice.

Working with the Director and campus partners, you will educate staff, develop resources, and contribute to VIU's commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion, including

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a human rights or equity related discipline, humanities, social science or related field.
• Minimum three-years recent case management experience.
• Experience recognizing and responding to complaints related to human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion and sexual misconduct.
• Experience assessing complex human rights issues under BC Human Rights Code; strong analytical skills.
• Ability to manage highly sensitive issues with confidentiality; strong judgement.
• Proven ability to manage high caseloads and changing priorities in fast-paced environments.
• Training in trauma-informed practice; strong written and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive concerns and complaints for DEHR Office and triage cases.
• Assess cases with sound judgement and discretion; determine resolution pathways with Director.
• Maintain confidential case records and apply restorative practices when appropriate.
• Develop and deliver workshops educating campus partners on human rights and DEI topics.
• Coordinate with Director to create resources and reports; participate in committees.
