Overview

The Decision Support Analyst provides guidance around the analysis of data and the application of planning to achieve organizational goals, supporting strategic direction for senior and clinical management with a focus on the Mental Health & Addictions Inpatient and Outpatient Programming. Guidance and consultation will be provided for the planning and preparation in presentations of data information, strategic organizational and regional projects. The Decision Support Analyst will focus on quality, strategic and operational planning support for the key Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare sub-acute programs. The ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and synthesize information into a logical format and presentation is a key responsibility for this position. Working closely in partnership with Senior Management, Physician Leads, Community Agencies and Regional Partners, the Decision Support Analyst will provide leadership relating to data quality and support program development in coordination with the Manager of Decision Support & Health Information Management.

Qualifications
  • 2–4 years data collection, analysis, and data management – required
  • 2–4 years leading and/or supporting initiatives or projects focused on improving health equity – an asset
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate collection of indicator data and trends, participate in external benchmarking.
  • Experience with HIS system and training with proven expertise.
  • Incorporate resident safety principles and practices into all day-to-day activities.
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, presentations, statistics, and analysis for senior management as requested.
  • Lead and/or support analytical activities and environmental scans.
  • Participate on committees, work groups, task forces, and special projects as assigned.
  • Prepare communication products including reports, PowerPoint presentations, and briefing notes for diverse audiences.
  • Review, interpret, and synthesize information from diverse sources.
  • Provide regular updates and status reports; present and participate in meetings and committees.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the organization and ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to synthesize information, problem solve, and express ideas logically both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint – required.
  • Understanding of Mental Health & Addiction programming, RAI, OCAN, OPOC – an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Provincial Funding Models, MIS, DCS, CIHI databases, RAI clinical coding/weighting system – preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner, BCare, Winrecs – preferred.
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports, SPSS, Cognos, PIE, DA2 – an asset.
  • Project experience – an asset.
