Job summary

Zanchin Automotive Group in Vaughan, Canada, is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting activities and guide financial strategy across the dealership network. You will manage GL, payroll, tax compliance, budgeting, and reporting, while working with leadership to optimize liquidity and control risks.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in accounting, strong ERP experience (CDK or Reynolds & Reynolds), and proven leadership in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.
• CPA designation is an asset but not required.
• ERP system experience (CDK or Reynolds & Reynolds) and payroll management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting activities and cycles, including revenues, receivables, payables, payroll, and treasury.
• Monitor financial direction, policies, and accounting practices.
• Provide insights to leadership to ensure strong financial results while minimizing risk.
• Maintain general ledger and trial balance, with supporting documentation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting packages.

About the opportunity…

• oversee all accounting activities and cycles, including revenues/receivables/receipts and purchases/payables/payments, treasury, payroll, compliance and related processes
• monitor the company’s financial direction, policies, and accounting practices
• work with the dealership management team; provide insights and feedback to ensure exceptional financial results while minimizing risk and exposure
• manage relationships with external stakeholders such as lending institutions, shareholders, external accountants, taxation authorities, and others
• maintain ownership of the general ledger and trial balance, including schedules and related entries, ensuring information within the system agrees to supporting documents and external sources
• develop, maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, and tax compliance issues
• prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting packages and manage year-end reporting processes
• champion cash management processes and systems to ensure strong liquidity
• champion internal processes and procedure improvements and maintain documentation to that effect
• develop, motivate, and supervise accounting team members

About you…

• previous experience as a Controller or in progressive roles within an automotive and/or dealership setting is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent, with strong technical accounting skills and understanding of accounting guidelines
• CPA or equivalent designation is an asset, not required
• proficiency working with ERP systems (such as CDK or Reynolds & Reynolds) and payroll management programs (ADP or similar)
• demonstrated track record of using Microsoft Office programs, including expert-level proficiency in Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation and analysis)
• demonstrated desire to continuously develop new skills, take on new challenges and actively seek out opportunities for improvement
• experience leading and supervising Team Members
• strong ability to communicate professionally (verbal and written)
