Job summary

UpAuto Group seeks a high-caliber Automotive Dealership Controller to lead financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for the dealership group. The role requires meticulous leadership, deep knowledge of dealership accounting, and strong communication with senior management.

You will own the month-end closing, audits, internal controls, and cash flow management, driving profitability and compliance across the organization.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting or comparable dealership accounting experience.
  • Designation such as CA or CPA is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of retail automotive dealership accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting for the dealership group.
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, budgets and forecasts per manufacturer timelines.
  • Coordinate compliance, audits and internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital and financing activities to support operations.

UpAuto is seeking a high-caliber Automotive Dealership Controller!

Are you a meticulous financial leader with a proven track record in automotive dealership accounting? As our incoming Controller, you will take the wheel in a pivotal leadership role—directly steering the financial health and long-term performance of the UpAuto group. In this high-impact position, you will completely own the dealership's financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting while ensuring absolute accuracy and strict regulatory compliance. Your strategic insights and rigorous financial management will be the driving force behind our profitability and the ultimate safeguard of our group's financial integrity.

Job Duties:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to optimize profitability and ensure long-term financial stability
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for the dealership group
  • Prepare the detailed monthly financial statements, in keeping with the dealer’s instructions and the manufacturer’s time frame and format; ensure that all manufacturer accounts are up-to-date and accurate – specifically those concerning warranty claims, discounts, interest rate protection and industry advertising
  • Coordinate and manage financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze financial performance and variances, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making
  • Monitor the supervision of accounts receivable and sales/purchases of vehicle documentation
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks
  • Collaborate with department heads to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maximize revenue opportunities
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and financing activities to support operational needs and strategic initiatives
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Successful Candidates Possess:
  • University degree in the field of Accounting, and/orcomparable dealership accounting experience(a must)
  • Designation preferred: CA, CPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the overall operation of a retail automotive dealership's accounting procedures
  • User knowledge of Dealership DMS: PBS (preferred)
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills - must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Strong intellect with a well-developed business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks for self and others and follow them through to completion
  • Demonstrated recognition that customer satisfaction is the prime concern of the dealership
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate others
  • An understanding and a willingness to allow others to learn through experience
  • Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate activities of all dealership departments
  • Proven and demonstrated history of successful departmental and personnel management
  • Thorough understanding of expense control re: inventory, floor plan, and personnel
  • Organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals
