Language: Bilingual (English/French) Strongly Preferred

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Initial Contract Term: 6 Months

Interview Process: One final-round interview with hiring leaders and a technical stakeholder

Position Overview
  • An innovative business team is seeking a Data Management Analyst to support the evaluation and validation of new business opportunities through data-driven insights.
  • This role combines responsibilities typically associated with both a Data Analyst and Business Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding, documenting, validating, and interpreting data across multiple business and technology domains to determine whether new initiatives have the necessary data foundation to move forward.
  • You will be the first person engaged when a new idea or project is introduced, helping assess data readiness, identify opportunities and limitations, uncover business rules, and provide a trusted view of the data landscape. Working alongside a Business Analyst who owns business and functional requirements, your primary focus will be understanding the data itself and ensuring stakeholders can make informed decisions based on accurate information.
About The Team
  • The team serves as the entry point for new ideas and initiatives across the organization. Every concept must be evaluated, challenged, and validated before investment decisions are made.
  • The team works across multiple business areas to:
  • Assess new opportunities and strategic initiatives
  • Validate assumptions using data
  • Identify risks and dependencies early
  • Establish feasibility and business value
  • Build reusable knowledge and documentation assets
  • Success depends on understanding complex and often undocumented data environments and transforming uncertainty into actionable insights.
Data Discovery & Assessment
  • Evaluate unfamiliar datasets and rapidly establish an understanding of available data, quality, gaps, and business relevance.
  • Determine whether data can support proposed business initiatives and identify limitations or risks.
  • Assess overall data readiness and provide recommendations regarding feasibility and effort required.
Data Analysis & Validation
  • Profile, analyze, and validate large datasets from multiple systems and sources.
  • Investigate relationships between tables, reports, extracts, dashboards, and operational systems.
  • Reconcile data across multiple environments and explain discrepancies.
  • Validate findings through collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
Data Reconciliation & Lineage
  • Trace data lineage across user interfaces, reports, extracts, spreadsheets, legacy platforms, and backend systems.
  • Identify undocumented transformations, calculations, filters, and business rules.
  • Establish trusted definitions and data sources for business-critical information.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
  • Develop and maintain:
    • Data dictionaries
    • Data lineage documentation
    • Business definitions
    • Data mappings
    • Business rules
    • Process documentation
  • Create a reusable knowledge repository that supports future initiatives and reduces reliance on tribal knowledge.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner closely with both technical and business teams to understand source systems, business processes, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a key resource for data-related questions across ongoing initiatives.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear business insights and recommendations.
Innovation & Project Support
  • Support the evaluation of new ideas and initiatives by providing objective, data-driven assessments.
  • Distinguish between opportunities suitable for rapid prototyping and those requiring significant data integration or engineering effort.
  • Help prioritize initiatives based on data availability, reliability, and business value.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Data Analysis
    • Data Management
    • Business Data Analysis
    • Data Governance or related roles
  • Strong SQL skills with hands‑on experience analyzing complex datasets.
  • Experience working with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting environments that include legacy applications, proprietary systems, and fragmented data ecosystems.
  • Strong investigative and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
  • Experience profiling data and assessing data quality, completeness, and integrity.
  • Proven ability to infer relationships between datasets and validate findings independently.
  • Excellent documentation skills related to data definitions, lineage, mappings, and business rules.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and learn new business domains quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain environments.
  • Experience with data governance and catalog platforms such as Alation or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with data lineage and metadata management practices.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Exposure to data warehouses, data lakes, and enterprise reporting environments.
  • Previous experience supporting innovation, discovery, strategy, or research-focused teams.
Technical Environment
  • Candidates may have experience working with:
  • SQL
  • Legacy enterprise platforms (including AS400 environments)
  • Enterprise reporting and analytics platforms
  • Data warehouses and data lakes
  • Power BI
  • Tableau
  • Excel‑based reporting solutions
  • Data catalog and governance tools
  • Operational and transactional business systems
Why This Role Matters
  • This position plays a critical role in determining whether new ideas can be supported by reliable, actionable data. The successful candidate will help guide investment decisions, reduce project risk, uncover business insights, and establish reusable knowledge that strengthens future initiatives.
  • This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys exploring unfamiliar data environments, solving complex business problems, and providing the clarity needed to move ideas from concept to execution.
