About the Role :
We are seeking a highly motivated Data Governance Analyst (Junior to Intermediate level) to join the Capital Markets Data Governance team at one of Canada’s leading financial institutions. This role plays a key part in advancing the bank’s data governance maturity by supporting enterprise-wide standards, improving data quality, and enabling compliance with internal and regulatory expectations.
You will work cross-functionally with technology teams, compliance, business lines, and data stewards to support data governance initiatives, track key metrics, and produce engaging visual reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Key Responsibilities : Assist in the implementation and maintenance of data governance frameworks, standards, and policies across Capital Markets data domains.
- Work closely with data stewards, technology teams, and risk functions to support data quality assessment, issue tracking, and metadata documentation.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality visual reports, dashboards, and executive decks using tools like PowerPoint, Excel, and Tableau or Power BI.
- Document data lineage, definitions, and ownership information to support regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
- Monitor and report on key data governance metrics and compliance with data management policies.
- Support stakeholder engagement through clear, professional communication and collaborative problem-solving.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and communication plans to promote data governance awareness across the organization.
- Required Qualifications : 1–4 years of experience in data governance, data management, or business / data analysis, ideally within banking or capital markets.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, metadata, data lineage, and stewardship.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content into clear, business-friendly language.
- Demonstrated ability to create visually compelling and effective presentations, reports, and dashboards for executive or business audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is an asset.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
- Preferred Qualifications : Familiarity with Capital Markets products and operations (e.g., trading, securities, derivatives, risk reporting).
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks such as OSFI B-13, BCBS 239, or Basel III.
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica) is a plus.
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance requirements in a Canadian financial context (e.g., PIPEDA).
