  • Operate as a dual project lead and business analyst for projects focused on improving how data is received from our vendors and/or generated through our key applications.
  • Collaborate with operational and investment teams to gather and analyze requirements (e.g., business process mapping, user requirements for systems, data mapping & lineage, etc.) for projects impacting the quality and consistency of OMERS investment data sets.
  • Develop relationships and influence change across data users, stewards, and custodians, promoting a culture of transparency, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Learn and apply effective change management techniques (e.g., stakeholder management, meeting facilitation, communications, etc.) to ensure adoption of new processes, behaviors, and mindsets.
  • Ensure projects are well-scoped, managed, and delivered, and bi-weekly progress reports are completed in a timely manner for our Business Operations team.

Data Management and Accuracy:

  • Assist with improving data accuracy, integrity, and availability by analyzing, monitoring, and recommending options to resolve production data and platform issues.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for data governance policies, standards, and procedures, including creating user guides, process flows, and policy documents.
  • Assist with developing and tracking metrics to measure the effectiveness of data governance processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Design and develop complex investment reporting (SQL, SSRS, OLAP, Power BI, etc.).
  • Support and facilitate data governance forums, such as a Data Quality & Issue Management forum.

Qualifications:

Experience & Education

  • 5+ years of experience, with a minimum of 2 years related to data governance implementation and/or data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related fields such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Professional development in areas like capital markets investing, investment analysis/reporting, data management, data science, process improvement, and project delivery methodologies is considered an asset.

Technical Expertise:

  • Shows keen interest in understanding how systems/processes work and has a pragmatic approach to creating change.
  • Able to represent complex information simply and professionally (emails, slide presentations, procedure documentation).
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and an evolving business environment.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively across teams and organizational levels.
