Job summary

COFOMO in Montreal is seeking a senior functional/data analyst to lead STR data initiatives, bridging business needs with data solutions.

You will collect and analyze requirements, design data models, ensure data quality, and collaborate across teams in a hybrid, bilingual environment.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in analysis, banking experience, expertise in SQL Server, Snowflake, AWS, ETL/ELT, BI tools, and data governance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in functional, business or data analysis.
• Significant experience in banking or financial services sector.
• Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server including T-SQL, stored procedures, views, and data analysis.
• More than 5 years of experience with complex SQL queries and large data volumes.
• Knowledge of Snowflake and AWS data architectures.
• Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data integration flows.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar visualization tools.
• Proficient with Git, Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, Jira and Confluence.
• Fluency in French and English for daily tasks and communications across Canada.

Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and document business and data needs for STR processes.
• Understand current processes, manual activities, and automation opportunities.
• Translate stakeholder needs into functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Identify data required to analyze alerts, investigate cases, and produce regulatory reports.
• Define data transformations, enrichment, standardization and validation rules.
• Analyze data sources for availability, quality, and relevance.
• Collaborate on integrating new datasets (transactions, accounts, clients, etc.).
• Establish quality controls to ensure data completeness and traceability.
• Participate in data model design and validate alignment with requirements.
• Maintain end-to-end data flow visibility from sources to investigations.
• Perform impact analyses on data, rules, processes or systems.
• Contribute to backlog prioritization and workshop facilitation.
• Support validation activities, user acceptance testing, and bug resolution.
• Produce and maintain functional documentation; act as data expert.
