Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. in Canada is seeking a Data Center Technician to perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center operation.

This role belongs to the Critical and Technical Services function, responsible for technical maintenance in critical client environments. You will conduct daily site inspections of mechanical and engineering systems, respond to BMS alarms, and collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with processes and laws.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred. 4-6 years of experience in Computer Science, MIS, Business Management or related field.
• Accredited training in the installation of copper and fiber structured cabling systems, preferred.
• Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays
• Must be able to Meet the physical requirements of this role.
• To effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
• Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
• Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
• Basic math skills: percentages, discounts, markup calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
• Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
• React to Building Management System alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed.
• Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company processes and laws/regulations.
• Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn’t meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
• Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
• Building walkthroughs and meter readings from UPS, PDU’s and utilities.
• Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.

What You’ll Do:

• Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
• Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
• Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
