Job summary

University of Guelph's Computing and Communications Services seeks an operational technician to support IT equipment across campus data centres, telephony and network facilities. You will monitor, maintain and troubleshoot switches, UPS, KVMs and cabling, ensuring high availability and secure operation.

Reporting to the Manager, Network Infrastructure, you will participate in deployments, documentation, asset management, and coordination with Systems Management analysts.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in a related field.
• Ability to troubleshoot local connectivity issues.
• Understanding data center infrastructure and server OS.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and repair equipment in the data centre.
• Document asset management and configurations.
• Assist in deployments and decommissioning of servers.
• Coordinate with teams for telephony and network needs.
• Maintain secure, highly available IT facilities.
