Job summary

Garland Commercial Ranges is seeking a Data & BI Intern for an 8–12 month contract based in Mississauga, Ontario. You will design and maintain Power BI dashboards, build DAX calculations, and translate business needs into reporting solutions.

You will gain hands-on experience with production dashboards, data modeling, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to decision support across multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in Data Analytics, CS, Math, or related field.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Basic experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
• Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data cleansing).
• Understanding of relational data concepts (tables, joints, keys).
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Nice to have: DAX and Power Query (M language).
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Exposure to Salesforce, ERP systems, or data warehouses.
• Experience with large datasets or business reporting.
• Familiarity with data visualization best practices.

Garland Commercial Ranges is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Data & Business Intelligence Intern on an 8 to 12-month contract!

This role will support ongoing data initiatives across multiple business functions. This role is ideal for someone who wants hands-on experience working with real-world datasets, building dashboards, and translating business requirements into actionable insights.

You will work to develop and enhance reporting solutions that contribute directly to dashboards, KPIs, and decision-making.

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology I, this position is 100% based in-office at our Mississauga, Ontario facility. This is an 8 to 12-month contract, which is an addition to headcount.

Major Accountability:

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports
• Write and troubleshoot DAX calculations (e.g., KPIs, aggregations, filters)
• Assist in data validation and troubleshooting discrepancies
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into reporting solutions
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and cleansing from multiple sources (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, Salesforce)
• Support ongoing improvements to existing dashboards (performance, usability, accuracy)
