  • Minimum 3 years of experience in machining.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 24 pounds.
  • Capability to troubleshoot machining and equipment issues and make adjustments.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to procedures.

Job Title: Cylindrical Grinder
Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating NC/CNC cylindrical grinding machines and conventional lathes to produce precision components to tight tolerances. You will perform daily machine checks, interpret job instructions and blueprints, and ensure that all parts meet customer specifications and quality standards. The position requires strong measuring skills, safe work practices, and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues in a production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily checks on machining equipment, including verifying coolant levels, cleanliness, and overall machine condition.

  • Read and follow job instructions, including grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheel specifications, and accurately complete job travelers.

  • Set up and operate NC/CNC cylindrical grinding machines to grind parts to tolerances of 0.001 inch or less.

  • Perform complete machine setups, including loading fixtures, tools, and programs, and verifying correct configuration before production.

  • Troubleshoot machine issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain part quality and production efficiency.

  • Safely and efficiently operate machining equipment, following all safety procedures and best practices.

  • Safely and efficiently operate conventional lathes to manufacture products to customer-supplied specifications.

  • Interpret and use basic print and blueprint information to ensure parts are produced to the correct dimensions and tolerances.

  • Use precision measuring tools to inspect parts and verify that they meet specified dimensions and quality requirements.

  • Participate in cross-training activities as needed to support team flexibility and production needs.

Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating NC/CNC cylindrical grinding machines.

  • Ability to grind parts to tight tolerances of 0.001 inch or less.

  • Experience operating conventional lathes in a production environment.

  • Basic blueprint and print reading skills to interpret customer and job specifications.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
