Job summary

Aerotek in Oakville, ON is seeking a Shipper and Receiver to organize and execute daily shipping and receiving activities. You will document, package, and move parts and test specimens, while following safety and quality systems in a daytime, Mon-Fri schedule.

Key duties include loading/unloading, organizing shipments, maintaining records, and ensuring inventory integrity. Prior forklift experience and ERP familiarity are valued.

Job Title: Shipper and Receiver

Job Description

The Shipper and Receiver plays a key role in organizing and executing all shipping and receiving activities while strictly following established safety procedures, quality systems, and company policies. This position supports production, planning, quality, and customer relations by ensuring parts and test specimens are accurately documented, properly packaged, and efficiently moved throughout the facility and to external destinations.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures, quality system requirements, and company policies at all times.
• Organize and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely movement of goods.
• Assist delivery truck operations, including coordinating arrivals and departures and supporting loading and unloading tasks.
• Support production, planning, quality, and customer relations teams by handling parts and documentation accurately and promptly.
• Complete, manage, and maintain required documentation and online forms for shipments and receipts.
• Organize and prepare shipments of parts and test specimens according to instructions and quality standards.
• Load and unload parts from trucks safely using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Pack and unpack parts, including oiling and strapping, to ensure safe transport and storage.
• Deliver parts and packages to other operations and departments within the facility as required.
• Count parts accurately and reconcile quantities with documentation to maintain inventory integrity.
• Visually inspect parts to identify obvious defects, damage, or discrepancies and report issues as needed.
• Operate forklifts, including counterbalance, reach, and order picker models, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Operate overhead lifting devices to move parts and materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Assist with grit blasting operations when required, ensuring parts are handled and processed correctly.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area by following 5S principles and contributing to continuous improvement.
• Ensure all shipping and receiving areas remain orderly, safe, and free of hazards.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations.
• Demonstrated experience in warehouse management and supervision of shipping and receiving activities.
• Proven ability to work in a warehouse environment handling shipping and receiving tasks.
• Hands-on experience operating forklifts, including counterbalance, reach, and order picker types.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.
• Strong attention to detail when counting, inspecting, and documenting parts and shipments.
• Ability to follow safety procedures, quality systems, and company policies consistently.
• Basic familiarity with ERP systems or similar tools for managing shipping and receiving documentation.
• Reliable organizational skills to manage multiple shipments, deliveries, and documentation simultaneously.

Work Environment

This role operates in a warehouse and production environment with regular interaction with trucks, forklifts, overhead lifting devices, and grit blasting operations. The schedule is a daytime shift, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing consistent hours each week. The position involves regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and working around moving equipment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial setting. The facility offers on-site parking for employees.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakville, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
