Job summary

Flexport is seeking a Customs Broker in Canada to help move goods through customs efficiently. You will prepare and submit entries, ensure documentation meets CBSA and PGA requirements, and maintain up-to-date regulatory knowledge.

You will support clients with accurate, timely service while collaborating with the customs operations team to scale our compliance capabilities across Canada.

Qualifications

  • CCS designation and knowledge of CBSA/processes required.
  • Strong understanding of CARM and customs compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Create and submit customs entries for high profile clients.
  • Prepare and submit documentation for CBSA clearance.
  • Stay updated on CBSA regulations and PGA requirements.
  • Review documents for compliance with CBSA and PGA reporting.
  • Provide exemplary client service throughout interactions with Flexport.
  • Learn and apply global customs laws and trade agreements.
  • Participate in training to stay current on regulations.

The opportunity:

Flexport is experiencing massive growth with 2,000+ Flexporters across 16 global offices and warehouses. And we’re just getting started.

As a Customs Broker, you will be part of the customs operations team and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods into Canada. Your work directly supports Flexport’s end customers in achieving their compliance goals by executing the clearance of shipments. Most importantly, you will play a pivotal role in taking our customs operations to the next level at Flexport: allowing us to effectively scale to achieve our mission of making global trade easy for everyone a reality.

You will:
  • Create and submit customs entries for high profile clients
  • Digitally prepare and Submit all documentation required for goods to clear goods with CBSA
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of all regulations and procedures of the CBSA and Participating Government Agencies (PGA’s)
  • Review and organize incoming documents to ensure compliance with CBSA and PGA reporting requirements
  • Provide exceptional customer service support to clients, ensuring a seamless and positive experience throughout their interactions with Flexport
  • Learn and follow global customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements to ensure compliance with import and export requirements
  • Participate in training programs to enhance your knowledge of customs compliance and stay up to date on changes in customs regulations and industry practice
You should have:
  • CCS Designation
  • Good understanding of CARM
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • An obsession with client happiness. You succeed when they succeed.
  • Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. See something broken? Fix it.
  • Understanding of international trade and customs regulations (previous experience is a must)
  • Familiarity with CBSA product classification and rulings
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing customs practices and regulations.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
