Job summary

YMCA BC in Vanderhoof is seeking a Customer Service Representative for the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre. The role focuses on delivering welcoming service at the front counter and helping members with memberships, registrations, and programs.

You will use POS systems, manage bookings and payments, and maintain a clean, friendly facility in alignment with YMCA standards. This is a casual, part-time position supporting community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience and training in customer service.
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable sector search required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Provide updated criminal record check within 6 months of start date.
  • Provide 3 satisfactory references.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 5-star customer service at the front counter.
  • Promote memberships and explain programs to potential members.
  • Use POS systems, booking and money handling.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date program information and registrations.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and meet YMCA standards.
  • Support team and participate in meetings.

Location: Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre (390 Columbia St E, Vanderhoof, BC V0J 2N6, Canada)

Term: Permanent, Casual

Hours: Hours may vary

Shifts: Shifts vary but include weekdays, evenings, and weekends

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: $18.30 per hour

Nature & Scope

The Customer Service Representative, reporting to the Centre Manager, is responsible for delivering excellent service through our YMCA Standards. The Customer Service Representative ensures that the front counter is welcoming, friendly and operated in a clean, efficient and effective manner.

As a member of the Vanderhoof Aquatic Centre team, you will support ensuring the facility is operating efficiently and meeting Association standards of convenience, clean and well maintained, safe, friendly and welcoming, builds positive relationships, providing opportunities to learn and grow. Furthermore, the Customer Service Representative will ensure that the YMCA mission and core values are being delivered in our daily operations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, proactive, and outcomes focused approach to delivering a 5-star customer service experience
  • Promote and actively sell memberships to potential members
  • Using POS systems, creating booking, money handling
  • Provide accurate and up to date program information and registrations
  • Be efficient, highly organized and pay close attention to detail
  • Strives to stay up to date with information regarding current activities, priorities, and events occurring in the facility and community
  • Assists in maintaining facility cleanliness
  • Supports high service standards and satisfaction ratings throughout the centre. Achieves all YMCA quality management targets
  • Ensures compliance with all provincial, regional and national YMCA initiatives
  • Participates in staff meetings as required
  • Actively contributes to a positive and healthy team environment

Qualification- you bring :

  • A minimum of grade 12 diploma or equivalent, additional vocational training will be considered an asset.
  • A combination of experience and training related to customer service
  • Maintain a satisfactory criminal record check and clear vulnerable sector search
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to complete.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
