Job summary

University of Ottawa is seeking a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor for the CHM3373 Molecular Spectroscopy and Statistical Mechanics course. Work is conducted in person at the Main Campus during the 2026 Winter Semester with a January 1, 2027 to April 30, 2027 schedule and a total of 130 hours.

Undergraduate TAs are paid at the lower rate and graduate TAs at the higher rate; rates are $33.83 or $53.31 per hour (Sept. 2026 – Aug. 2027). Orientation and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• 1 full year of general chemistry and 1 full year of organic chemistry completed.
• CHM 4000 level course in physical/theoretical chemistry or equivalents.
• Non-chemistry graduates must pass qualification test.
• WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety workshops completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in the laboratory and outside, mark laboratory reports.
• Implement safety guidelines in the laboratory.
• Support and supervise lab sessions and proctor examinations.
• Provide training as needed and address student inquiries.

• Successful completion of WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety workshops
