University of Ottawa's Department of Physics, Students & Casuals invites applications for two Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor positions for PHY3355 Statistical Thermodynamics at the Main Campus. The work is conducted in person during the 2027 Winter Semester.

Two positions available, hourly rates of $33.83 for undergraduate and $53.31 for graduate students, totaling 65 hours across grading, student support and exam proctoring. Start date January 1, 2027; end date April 30, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Completion of four years of university-level Physics or equivalent.
  • Experience in grading, tutoring, and helping students.
  • Ability to supervise exams and manage in-class activities.

Responsibilities

  • Marking and grading of assignments, tests, and midterms.
  • Helping students with problem solving and questions.
  • Proctoring mid-term and final exams as assigned by the faculty.
  • Collaborating with the supervising professor to allocate hours.

Requirements (faculty): Completion of four (4) years of University level Physics or equivalent.

  • - 45 hours: Marking/grading of assignments, tests, midterm(s);
  • - 10 hours: Helping students with problem solving.
  • - 6 hours: Proctoring mid-term (s), other tasks.
  • - 4 hours. Proctoring final exam SCIXXXX. Assigned by the faculty.
