Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Crop Scout / Agronomy Assistant to support our client’s agronomy team in the Kimberley region, Canada. You will conduct field assessments to monitor crop health, identify pests and nutrient deficiencies, and assist with data collection to inform crop management strategies.

This entry-level role offers practical experience in crop science, with on-the-job mentorship from experienced agronomists, and opportunities to grow within the company as you gain field

Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related science field.
  • Previous experience in agricultural field work, crop scouting, or as an agronomy assistant is beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of common crops, pests, and diseases.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and cover significant ground on foot.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail for fieldwork around Kimberley.
  • Good communication and record-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular field scouting to identify pests, diseases, weeds, and nutrient deficiencies in crops.
  • Collect data on crop growth stages, yield potential, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist agronomists with crop management plans, including pesticide and fertilizer applications.
  • Calibrate and operate field scouting equipment, including GPS devices and moisture meters.
  • Maintain accurate and organized field records and contribute to scouting reports.
  • Identify and report any unusual crop conditions or potential problems to the lead agronomist promptly.

About the Role
