Job summary

Distress Centre Calgary is seeking a part-time, Friday–Sunday evening/overnight role within a 24/7 crisis contact centre. The position requires a diploma or degree in a human services field, CPR/First Aid, and experience in crisis intervention and risk assessment.

Remote work options may be available for a portion of the role, with on-site site in Calgary. You will support crisis line responders, coordinate safety follow-ups, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in a Human Services-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certification such as First Aid/CPR; Naloxone training or willingness to obtain within probation.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, mental health, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time crisis support and coaching to volunteers and staff.
  • Coordinate safety follow-ups and connect with mobile response or external partners.
  • Support quality assurance by reviewing case documentation and reporting.
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting for contact centre systems.
  • Respond to overflow crisis calls when the centre is busy.
