Job summary

Seaspan ULC is hiring a Trade Supervisor, Crane & Rigging, to lead a team in our North Vancouver shipyard. You will coordinate crane and rigging trade activities, ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery of projects, and work closely with management to set priorities and resolve issues.

Required are 5+ years in crane/rigging trades, 3+ years in supervision, and a strong safety mindset. On-site role at 50 Pemberton Ave. North Vancouver with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of crane and rigging trades experience outside of an apprenticeship.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably unionized.
• Dedication to safety and quality with behavioural-based safety experience.
• Knowledge of heavy manufacturing/shipbuilding trades (welding, metal fabrication, electrical, pipefitting, paint/sandblasting, mechanical, rigging, etc.).
• Strong written, verbal and electronic communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Accountability for safety, cost, schedule and quality in area of responsibility.
• Implement Seaspan safety, environmental and quality processes on the shop floor.
• Deliver product and customer quality standards.
• Lead team with schedule and priorities; assign work to trades employees.
• Collaborate with management to set daily/weekly goals and report progress.
• Raise trade issues and implement solutions identified.
• Follow collective agreement and standard methodologies.
• Manage discipline, performance and attendance; direct chargehands.
• Partner with Workforce Development to ensure skills and certifications are current.
• Promote a respectful, harassment-free work environment.
