Job summary

Stonehenge Therapeutic Community in Ontario is hiring a Counsellor for the Supportive Housing Portfolio to support tenants with housing retention and independent living. You will provide intake, clinical and support services, and collaborate with the team to develop goals and discharge planning.

The role requires a BSW or related degree, registration with a professional college, and experience in addictions or mental health.

Qualifications

• Completion of a BSW or other University Degree relevant to mental health, addiction or Social Services.
• Minimum one year of progressive experience in addictions or mental health; experience in concurrent disorders or trauma informed practice an asset
• Registration with a professional college (i.e. OCSWSSW or CRPO) required
• Lived experience related to addictions and/or mental health an asset
• Standard First Aid/CPR, Level C
• Valid G Driver’s License (G2 or G) and Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record

Responsibilities

• Support the intake of clients through consultation and assessment
• Deliver clinical and support services for clients including goal setting and monitoring progress
• 1:1 counselling and psychoeducational interventions
• Facilitate house meetings and support groups
• Crisis planning and intervention as required
• Utilize evidence-informed practices including Motivational Interviewing, CBT/DBT
• Support housing retention, and employment/education development
• Make referrals to internal and external program or services
• Discharge planning in collaboration with teams
• Community building with program participants and the wider community
• Program development activities as required
