Job summary

Sofina Foods Inc. in Canada is seeking a Cost Analyst to provide financial administrative and analytical support to Operations Management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in accounting/finance.
• Pursuing CPA is an asset.
• 2–5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably AS400.
• Strong analytical and MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, formulas).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present production cost reports, variances and analyses.
• Administers product setup within ERP and reporting.
• Support plant management on improvement initiatives.
• Analyze variances between actual and standard costs.

• Assist with counts and audits of products and raw materials.

Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Controller, the Cost Analyst provides financial administrative and analytical support to Operations Management; while working closely with Business Performance. The incumbent ensures data integrity of the plant's operational and financial reporting in accordance with established corporate standards and requirements. In addition, the position works closely with other Cost Analysts to ensure that processes are consistent throughout each location.

Work Schedule: 7.30am - 4pm (Mon - Fri)

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare, review, analyze, reconcile and present: daily, weekly and monthly production reports. This includes costing, inventory, yields, labor, expense reports, etc., in accordance with Plant Management, Company policy, & GAAP.
• Administers new product set-up process, within ERP/complement systems, and within reporting.
• Responsible to assist and support plant management on various initiatives ensuring ongoing analysis and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Support the plant management in the analysis of variances between actual costs occurring at the plant and standard costs, variances related to finished goods, products and raw material.
• Completes Production related journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month end analysis.
• Assists with product and raw material counts and audits.
• Maintain BOMS/standard instructions and product costings in ERP system.
• Position provides back up support and relief to the finance team.
• Other adhoc projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in accounting/finance.
• Pursing an accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset
• 2 to 5 years accounting and cost reconciliation experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of financial/operational ERP systems preferably AS400.
• Strong analytical skills and proficient in MS office with intermediate to expert knowledge of excel (Pivot Tables/formulas/linkage).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Hiring Range

CAD $57,936 - $77,344

Bonus

This position is eligible for a bonus up to 7.0% of base salary subject to the plan terms and conditions.

Please note that the expected hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
