Within the Professions, Governance and Legislation Branch of the Governance, Policy, and Engagement Division, the Public Agency and System Governance (PASG) unit provides strategic leadership and advice on governance, accountability, policy, and system-level decision-making across Alberta's adult learning system. The team works closely with public post-secondary institution boards, advisory and regulatory agencies, and ministry partners to promote effective governance, accountability, and transparency through governance best practices, board effectiveness initiatives, agency oversight, legislative compliance, and public sector compensation disclosure requirements. PASG also leads and facilitates the process for all of Advanced Education’s board and agency appointments, supports agency review initiatives, and advances system-wide governance priorities, including the development and implementation of governance frameworks and policies that strengthen Alberta's post-secondary and skills system.
Reporting to the Manager, System Governance, the Governance Analyst supports the implementation and application of governance frameworks, policies, and oversight activities across Alberta's adult learning and skills system. The position provides research, analysis, stakeholder support, and implementation expertise to advance effective governance practices across public agencies and post-secondary institutions. Working closely with other members of the PASG unit and other program areas in Advanced Education, the Governance Analyst contributes to evidence-informed decision-making, governance policy implementation, monitoring and reporting, evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

A university degree in Public Administration, Law , Political Science or related field is preferred, plus 2 years of progressive related experience. Directly related experience or education is considered as an equivalency on a one- for-one basis.
