Qualifications

Are you a Law Clerk growing your career and looking to specialize in corporate matters? Our client, a growing law firm in Ottawa, is seeking a Corporate Law Clerk to join their team. You will need at least one year of law clerk experience. Interested? Keep on reading to learn more!

Salary: $50,000-$85,000, depending on experience

About you

To be successful, you should have:

  • 1+ years of experience as a Law Clerk — the position is open to junior, intermediate, and senior clerks
  • Post-secondary degree as a Law Clerk
  • Experience with professional corporations and not-for-profit organizations would be a strong asset
  • PC skills: MS Office, Document Management software, and PC Law and/or Soluno (legal accounting software)
  • Collaborative skills to work with lawyers, other clerks, and staff
  • Independent reasoning on client files
About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare corporate docs: governance, incorporation, amendments, dissolution, tax reorgs, and share & asset purchases
  • Update & review corporate minute books
  • Manage ongoing corporate maintenance, searches, filings, and registrations
  • Determine processes compliance with laws, regs, and standards
  • Draft docs for corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions, purchase agreements, etc.
  • Communicate with clients, lawyers, and stakeholders
  • Assist with general corporate tasks as needed
  • Process dockets, billing, and accounts receivable
  • Organize client files using doc management system; attend to other duties as needed
