Job summary

Fresh Start Foods Canada Ltd. is seeking a full-time Coordinator Quality Assurance to join our Milton, Ontario team.

You will ensure QA systems meet customer and regulatory expectations, review records, and support internal audits and training. Required are a High School diploma or equivalent with HACCP or FDA Preventive Control qualifications; two years in food safety/QA in manufacturing, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; HACCP and/or FDA Preventive Control qualifications required.
• HACCP certification
• FDA Preventive Control Qualified Individual preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years in food safety, QA, or QC in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous improvement and adequacy of QA systems to meet expectations.
• Review daily records: scale verification, thermometer verification, pH meter calibration, internal inspections.
• Update policies to satisfy GFSI, customer, or regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular inspections to ensure policy adherence.
• Lead and manage QA/QC training in the platform (e.g., Alchemy).
• Communicate with other departments to meet safety and quality compliance.
• Maintain QA documentation and supplier/customer records.
• Liaise with R&D to develop products per customer demand and trends.
• Conduct shelf life studies on new and existing products.
• Support FSQA Manager in audits and act as backup when needed.
• Adhere to safe work practices and perform other duties as directed.

Schedule

Sunday through Friday: 9am - 5pm with Saturday and another weekday off (Depends on the Business Needs).

Fixed Contract

6 months; possible extension or permanent full time, after the fixed term

Salary

$45,000/year

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous improvement and adequacy of quality assurance systems to support business, customer, and regulatory expectations.
• Review daily records, including scale verification, thermometer verification, pH meter calibration, and internal inspection of the facility.
• Assist in reviewing and updating internal policies and procedures to satisfy GFSI, customer, or regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular inspections and reviews to ensure employees adhere to internal policies.
• Participate and assist in various employees’ Food Safety and Quality training, and manage training in the existing platform (e.g., Alchemy).
• Communicate with other departmental personnel to meet food safety and quality compliance, and assist other departments as needed or requested.
• Maintain food safety & quality assurance documentation and records such as supplier information, customer portal maintenance, and product specifications.
• Liaise with the Research and Development department to create new products according to customer demand and industry trends.
• Conduct and report shelf life studies on new and existing products.
• Support the Food Safety & Quality Manager and Supervisor in customer, 3rd party, regulatory, and internal audits.
• Act as a backup for team members when a QA/QC technician is not available.
• Adhere to safe work practices.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the FSQA Manager/Supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Required Education/Certification: High School / Equivalent and Certification or License as a HACCP and/or FDA Preventive Control Qualified Individual.
• Preferred Education: Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, and/or quality control within manufacturing.
