Job description

Job Title: Cook

RhynoCare Staffing is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team in partnered long-term care facilities. The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious, delicious meals that meet dietary requirements, collaborating with dietary staff on menu planning, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and cook meals according to dietary guidelines and menus.
  • Serve meals at appropriate temperatures and times.
  • Assist with meal serving, respecting residents' food preferences.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Work with dietary staff on menu development.
  • Help control food costs, waste, and manage inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
  • Assist with special events and catering as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act standards.
  • Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized college, preferably Red Seal.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Experience in long-term care or with seniors preferred; experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings accepted.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination per Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care policy.
Skills
  • Genuine interest in elderly care and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in various temperatures.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, and work effectively in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
