Sienna Senior Living in North York, Ontario, is hiring a Casual Cook. The role pays $25.47 per hour under the collective agreement and involves setting up, preparing meals, and ensuring diets and portion controls meet requirements.

You will contribute to a warm, resident-focused kitchen in a trusted care community. We seek individuals with Grade 12, Safe Food Handling and Smart Serve certificates, and experience in institutional food service.

Competenze

• Grade 12 education is required.
• Valid Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates.
• Experience cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
• Vulnerable Sector Check required (Ontario).
• Criminal Records Check required (British Columbia).

Mansioni

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided.
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action.
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers.
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Cook, your typical day will impact in the following ways:

Must Haves

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
