Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Toronto is hiring a casual Cook for Fountain View Care Community – North York. You will prepare meals, follow production sheets, and support dietary needs.

Must have Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates and experience in institutional settings; candidates must pass security checks.

Qualifications

• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence.
• All applicants must successfully pass the Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario).
• All applicants must successfully pass the Criminal Records Check (BC).

Responsibilities

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu documents as provided.
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leader of problems and making recommendations for corrective action.
• In the absence of the team leader, assuming responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes, requisitions and purchases of food and supplies.
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
