Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Mississauga is seeking a casual Cook to prepare meals and snacks according to menus and production sheets. You\'ll help maintain dietary needs, monitor food quality, and participate in kitchen operations alongside a dedicated team.

The role requires Grade 12, Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates, and experience in institutional dining. Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to pass background checks are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 minimum education required.
• Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
• Able to pass Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets and recipes.
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies and advising team leader of problems and corrective actions.
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations.
• Assisting in orientation and training of new team members.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective actionIn the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
• Performing other duties as assigned

Must Haves

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province

Additional Qualifications That Would Be Considered An Asset

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
