Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Cook to join our team in Canada. This role involves setting up kitchen operations, preparing meals, and ensuring diets and portions meet specifications in a supportive senior residence environment.

You will work with a team to deliver quality resident meals, adhere to safety standards, and participate in ongoing training. The posting reinforces a respectful, diverse culture and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 minimum education requirement.
• Valid Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates.
• Experience cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and teamwork to meet residence standards.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
• Must pass Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check for the province.

Responsabilités

• Set up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Prepare meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu documents.
• Provide for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitor quality of food supplies and advise team leader of problems and corrective actions.
• In the absence of the team leader, oversee departmental operations including changes as necessary and requisition/purchase supplies.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including enu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
• Performing other duties as assigned

Must haves:

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province

Additional qualifications that would be considered an asset:

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
