Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Cook to join our team, delivering meals and snacks in line with production sheets and dietary requirements. You will work with a supportive team, ensure food quality, and help manage daily kitchen operations.

We offer a competitive hourly wage of $29.24 with opportunities for growth and benefits, including health and dental coverage, RRSP with employer match, and participation in the SOAR program. Ontario and BC applicants welcome.

Qualifications

• Must have a positive attitude and be able to work in a team.
• Experience in food preparation and cooking in institutional, healthcare, restaurant or hospitality settings.
• Ability to follow production sheets, recipes and menus and monitor food quality.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Prepare meals and snacks according to production sheets and recipes.
• Provide for prescribed diets at correct temperatures and portions.
• Monitor quality of food supplies and report issues to team lead.
• In absence of team lead, oversee departmental operations including menu changes and purchases.
• Assist in orientation and training of new team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu document as provided
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
• Performing other duties as assigned

Must Haves

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• Demonstrates a positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants

Bonus Points For Having

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
