Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is accepting applications for Cook 2 Permanent Part Time Days in Kingston, Ontario. The role offers a rate of pay of $21.60 per hour under the collective agreement, with benefits and growth opportunities.

You will prepare meals, ensure nutrition needs and dietary requirements are met, and support the team in a busy health-care setting. We value a positive attitude, reliability, and the ability to work with residents and families to maintain dignity and comfort.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 minimum education required.
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit.
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province.

Responsibilities

• Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation.
• Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes and other menu documents.
• Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leader of problems and corrective actions.
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers.
• Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Cook your typical day will impact in the following ways:

Must Haves

• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit

Additional Qualifications That Would Be Considered An Asset

• Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willing to Red Seal certify
